This week, things didn’t go exactly as planned. Major tech issues threw us off track, so instead of our usual group flow, we each recorded our responses individually. The episode has a slightly different sound, but the conversation around fire is still rich and meaningful.

Fire has always carried powerful symbolism in magical traditions. It represents passion, transformation, energy, creativity, and even divine connection. Across cultures, myths about fire highlight its importance: Prometheus stealing fire for humanity in Greek tradition, the Japanese fire god Kagutsuchi, the craftsmanship of Hephaestus and Vulcan, and the rebirth of the Phoenix found in stories around the world. Beyond myth, fire shows up in everyday life—in cooking, in the glow of candles, in the spectacle of fireworks—always reminding us of its transformative nature.

Each of us imagined fire’s voice and the stories it might tell. Tegan pictured a primal, ancient presence, whispering of first sparks, human gatherings, and the forging of weapons. Michele spoke of fire’s role in transformation, burning away impurities the way a sword is forged. Belit gave fire a powerful voice, something along the lines of Liam Neeson or Benedict Cumberbatch, and tied it to dragons and their fierce wisdom.

When it came to personal practices, fire showed up in simple yet profound ways. Michele uses it often in shamanic work, especially for release rituals. Belit works with a small cast iron cauldron to burn and release what no longer serves. Both approaches emphasized how effective and grounding fire can be when used in ritual, even in its most straightforward forms.

Despite the tech struggles, this episode became its own kind of transformation—just like fire itself.
